Within the food processing industry, there exists the risk of food materials and products containing impurities and metal contamination. Even within the dairy industry, powders and liquids can contain metal impurities that contaminate the products. Because products from the food processing industry are consumed directly, it is necessary to separate the impurities from the materials to purify them and make them safe for consumption.

The dairy industry especially has sensitive, specific, and important hygiene requirements, so purification of impurities is even more important in the industry.

For such separation, magnetic separation is utilised through machines like magnetic traps and drawer magnets. Such equipment is designed to be food grade, hygienic, and safe. They are built for the very purpose of hygienic separation and so are made of stainless steel.

Types of Separators

1. Drawer Magnet

This type of magnet is fitted to the discharge section of existing pipelines or outlets which will enable the separation of the material. The magnet is designed with 2 magnetic grids mounted one above the other, through which the material is passed. The ferrous metal impurities stick to the magnets and the purified material is collected after passing through the magnet. The grids can be removed to be cleaned.

2. Magnetic Trap

This machine is designed to remove ferrous tramp metal and metallic impurities from liquid processing and conveying lines. It consists of either of anisotropic ceramic magnets or high-intensity rare earth magnets.

This Magnet can be used for water cleaning or purification and also to separate impurities from fruit juice, chocolate juice, edible oil, and more.

 3. Self-Cleaning Magnetic Grill

The Self-Cleaning Magnetic Grill consists of magnetic filter bars. The bars are made with stainless steel tubes with permanent magnets that have a special magnetic circuit. The grill is utilised in such a way that the metal contaminants stick to the bars when the material is passed through the grill.

This grill can be efficiently used if the impurities are within 1% to 1.5% by weight, if not multiple or drawer grills should be utilised.

The Self-Cleaning feature comes with the special magnetic circuit that the bars contain. The bars can be removed easily which also demagnetises the grill, after which the contaminants fall of the grill.
